Mauritius: New regulations for type approval of Bluetooth devices

The Mauritian Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) has published a new guideline which facilitates access to the Mauritian market for manufacturers and importers. The 1st guideline, regulation 3.12 of 2014 was amended, especially the amendment of point 5.9, which regulates the import and marketing of devices with built-in Bluetooth function, is of particular importance for foreign producers. From now on, electronic devices that only have a built-in Bluetooth function do not have to undergo a separate certification or approval for the Mauritian market. This product category includes, for example, cordless keyboards, mouse or headphones.

Consequently, importers or manufacturers only have to comply with the regulations regarding the labelling and conformity of their products with the Mauritian standards. Information on labelling and local standards must be requested from the local authorities in Mauritius.
